Reporting to the Accounting Manager - Healthcare Services, this is a fast-paced position within an existing team of eight that are a sub-unit within a department of approximately 30. Possessing all or some of the attributes in the Preferred list below will be helpful to any applicant.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting and financial reporting functions, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Collects information necessary to prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Monitors general ledger account activity and reconciles general ledger accounts. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in accounting, finance or business with 10 years of accounting experience acceptable in lieu of Bachelor's Degree

Three years of experience

Demonstrated ability to perform variance analysis

Experience and proficiency with accounting systems

Proven accounting skills and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree

Certified Public Accountant

Certified Management Accountant

Experience with People Soft and Hyperion

Not-for-profit experience

Healthcare accounting experience

Public accounting experience


Knowledge of A/P processes; this position is responsible for processing accounts payable for a third party using Dynamics GP

Knowledge of data inflow and outflow processes for two discrete ERP systems: Dynamics GP and Peoplesoft

Data reporting using intermediate to advanced query and Pivot Table functions

General knowledge of subsystem interfaces into general ledger (purchasing, payroll, PP&E)

Analytical skills with regard to business processes

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of intercompany consolidation concepts

Knowledge of general healthcare finance concepts, e.g., reimbursement, contractual allowance, payor mix, revenue cycle, capitation, managed care
