JOB SUMMARY:

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner delivers primary care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well neonates collaboratively with the Division of Neonatology. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner also functions as a clinical leader, consultant and educator in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and all healthcare team members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Nursing - Graduated from an accredited Acute Care Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program

Registered Nurse, State of California

Nurse Practitioner, State of California

Nurse Practitioner Furnishing, State of California

NP Furnishing number, State of CA, Controlled Substance II Privileges

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number: CS II thru V


NRP

NRP Instructor (within 2 years of employment)

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, National (New Graduate NNP's within 6 months of employment)

CPR/BLS (issued by American Heart Association)

PALS certification


Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) upon hire, but no later than 3 months of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three years of experience

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Two years experience of clinical nursing within the Neonatal ICU

Two years experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
