The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner delivers primary care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well neonates collaboratively with the Division of Neonatology. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner also functions as a clinical leader, consultant and educator in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and all healthcare team members.

Skills / Requirements


Master's Degree in Nursing - Graduated from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program

License: Registered Nurse, State of California

License: Nurse Practitioner, State of California

License: Nurse Practitioner Furnishing, State of California (Upon hire but no later than 12 months of employment or sooner based on department needs)

NP Furnishing number, State of CA, Controlled Substance II Privileges (Upon hire but no later than 1 month after obtaining NPF)

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number: CS II thru V (Upon hire but no later than within 1 month of obtaining NPF & CSII privileges)

Certification: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Certification: Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor (w/in 2 years of employment)

Certification: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, National (New Graduate NNP's within 6 months of employment)
Certification: CPR/BLS (Issued by American Heart Association)

Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier); Upon hire but no later than 3 months of employment


Three years of experience

Two years of experience of clinical nursing within the Neonatal ICU

Two years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills
