This is a Casual position with an anticipated assignment length through February 28, 2014.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher and consultant and works with supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department of nursing, as well as the medical staff.

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Nursing - Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program

Registered Nurse, State of California

Nurse Practitioner, State of California

Nurse Practitioner Furnishing, State of CA (for positions that require medication furnishing/ordering/prescribing); Due upon hire but no later than 12 months of employment, or sooner based on department needs; See Job offer letter

Nurse Practitioner Furnishing, State of CA, Controlled Substance II Privileges (for positions that require the writing of scheduled II medications); Due upon hire but no later than 1 month after obtaining NPF

DEA number (for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications; Each department to identify which class needed CS II thru V); Due upon hire but no later than within 1 month of obtaining NPF & CSII privileges and no later than 12 months of employment, whichever comes first

CPR Certification issued by American Heart Association provider

PALS Certification issued by American Heart Association provider

National NP certification or eligible, obtained within 6 months of employment

Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier); Due upon hire but no later than 3 months of employment

National Certification in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner

Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area

Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner

Formal education and/or lecturing skills
