This is a Casual position with an anticipated assignment length through June 30, 2020 and subject to renewal thereafter.


  • CA Registered Nurse with 3-5 years of pediatric maternal child health or neonatal nursing experience
  • BSN
  • Proficient with professional documentation in EHR
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, communication skills and ability to assess and prioritize and work as part of a team
  • Proficient with MS Office suite with excellent knowledge in excel and word
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Proof of valid licenses

  • Experience with developing, preparing and presenting education in-services
  • Bilingial English/Spanish


  • Position is for Program Coordinator in one of 7 state-contracted Newborn Screening Program Area Service Centers in California
  • Provides Case Management and follow up of complex positives screening tests in 45 licensed perinatal facilities and 30+ midwifery groups; facilitates referrals of patients to CCS Special Care Centers or CCS-paneled specialists for diagnosis and treatment
  • Provides guidance and support of Quality Assurance objectives related to the early diagnosis and treatment of conditions screened; including but not limited to interpretation of state regulations; validates and shares Monthly and Quarterly reports generated via the State Information System (SIS) database with stakeholders.
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to NBS providers, physicians, with verifications of screens, inadequate and early screens as needed, including screens drawn post transfusion
  • Assists with monthly and quarterly reporting requirements including the development and implementation of the annual education plan
  • Collaborates and cooperates within the local team provides guidance and assistance to non-clinical staff
  • Maintains tracking as required in compliance with reporting requirements
