This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.

NURSE PRACTITIONER

JOB SUMMARY:

The appropriate candidate for this position will provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient clinical care to patients seen at the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Center. Candidate will receive training to comprehend the pathophysiology of gastrointestinal motility and functional disorders. Candidate will be also trained on performing different motility diagnostic procedures including: esophageal, antroduodenal, colonic and anorectal motility studies, in addition to Smart Pill, impedance, EndoFLIP and Pill Cam. Candidate will be trained to triage patients and discuss plan with motility team.

After training is completed, the candidate will be expected to function alongside the Director of Motility Center and independence to perform motility diagnostic tests will be granted based on candidate competency level.

The appropriate candidate will be expected to provide clinical care, certain motility procedures, inpatient care, case management, and coordination of care for patients seen in the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Center.

The selected Nurse Practitioner can function dependently in a staff position, implementing the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within this specialized area of patient care. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the medical staff.The selected Nurse Practitioner will be responsible to see patients at Main Campus and possibly at different outreach locations. He /she may be on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs.

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education children and families in clinical, school, and in-home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher and consultant and works with supervision of a physician. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department of nursing as well as the medical staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current California Nurse Practitioner license

Current CPR/BLS certification (Issued by American Heart Association)

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (within one year of employment)

Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) Must obtain within 6 months of employment

Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National (w/in 1 year of employment)

Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services

Successfully completes the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master Degree of Science

Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area

Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner

Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills

Bilingual Skills desired

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

This position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. Functions dependently in a staff position, implementing the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current California Physician Assistant license

Completion of a Physician Assistant Program

Current CPR/BLS certification (Issued by American Heart Association provider)

Furnishing number, State of California (w/in 1 year of employment)

DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications (within one year of employment)

Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission (w/in 1 year of employment)

Bachelors or Master Degree of Science

Two years of experience in clinical nursing with emphasis in specialty area
