This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.
Children’s Specialists of San Diego (CSSD) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, advanced practice providers, and student body. We are seeking both nurse practitioners and physician assistants to join the Division of Emergency Medicine.
Rady Children's Hospital San Diego (RCHSD), a 377-bed level 1 Trauma Center, is the major regional primary and tertiary pediatric hospital and is the clinical home of UCSD Department of Pediatrics. The Emergency Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research. The Urgent Cares consist of 6 locations around the county of San Diego and the surrounding areas. The Emergency Department is located at the Rady Children’s Hospital Main Campus.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Physician Assistant, NICU/ED/UC position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Physician Assistant, NICU/ED/UC is the primary provider of care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well pediatric patients collaboratively with the Divisions of Neonatology, Emergency Medicine, or Urgent Care. Implements the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic healthcare services within the scope of licensure and in accordance with CSSD policies and procedures. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to Division needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree and Completion of a Physician Assistant Program
Current California Physician Assistant license
Current PALS Certification, issued by AHA
Furnishing number, State of California – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications – Must obtain within one year of employment
Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) - Must obtain within 6 months of employment
Certification: Physician Assistant, National Commission – Must obtain within 1 year of employment
Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
Successfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in clinical practice with emphasis in specialty area
Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
Experience in specialty area as a Physician Assistant
Formal in-service education and/or lecturing skills
Bilingual Skills desired
The expected hiring range for this position is $74.51 to $102.45 per hour.
