Prospect Research Officer – LI - Donor Services

The Prospect Research Officer position will report directly to the Director of Research and Data Analytics and join our established Research and Data Analytics team. This position is key to the Development team and will require a high degree of knowledge for all functions in fundraising to support our Major Giving, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Grants, Corporate Giving, Marketing, Events, and Stewardship teams. The ideal candidate will possess good communication and problem-solving skills, exhibit curiosity, and have experience using development supporting resources.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Prospect Research Officer - LI is responsible for the identification and qualification of prospective individual, private foundation, and corporate funding sources to meet philanthropic objectives. Devise strategies for obtaining new prospects with capacity to give $25K+ gifts in order to ensure the ongoing development, expansion, and renewal of the prospect base for current and future support. Works closely with Foundation officers to maintain their robust portfolios of 1500+ and/or as assigned by management of prospects / donors for solicitations. Provide recommendations around prospect strategy and engagement opportunities. Maintain an active awareness of individuals in the prospect pool in various stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Provide comprehensive donor analysis and bios for potential prospects / donor. Performs research through but not limited to research subscriptions, published materials, databases, internet, and other internal/external data-mining to compile comprehensive analysis regarding prospect/ donors for the purpose of cultivation and solicitation. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining current prospect / donor information with the most current phone numbers, e-mail addresses and wealth ratings. Work closely with the Donor Services team to maintain data integrity. Create and execute special projects as assigned by SVP/Executive Director and/or VP of Operations and provides recommendations for optimization of systems as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degreeor 3 years of progressively in-depth experience in prospect research, development, fundraising, market research, and/or relevant experience in lieu of degree
1 Year of Experience
Experience with prospect research concepts/application
Experience with Blackbaud and/or other non-profit applications
Detail-oriented and a team player
Works efficiently under pressure; meets deadlines; demonstrates strategic thinking and good decision-making, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit
Articulate, poised and possesses strong writing skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

The expected hiring range for this position is $28.08 to $38.61
