As a Rady Children's Hospital Security Team Member, you will be working in a dynamic healthcare environment to protect life and property of all persons on hospital premises, hospital buildings, and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Customer Service is key with tasks that include, but are not limited to, assisting employees and visitors with parking, responding to hospital emergency codes, patrolling hospital grounds, transporting (driving) patients and employees in hospital vehicles, use of radio communication equipment, and writing security reports. Security is on the front line to be proactive and respond to escalated situations with patients, staff and visitors. The role is focused on de-escalation in conjunction with the clinical team and/or to intervene to prevent injuries and preserve a healthy, safe environment. The role requires situational awareness, assessment and interventional skills. Written and verbal communication skills are critical and officers are key in keeping situations calm or quickly resolved.


High school diploma, GED, or Equivalent

1 year of experience

California Driver’s License

California Guard Card (within 3 months of starting position)

De-Escalation Training (within 2 months of starting position)

Meets enhanced physical requirements

One year experience in a role in Healthcare Security, Physical Therapy, EMT, BHA or other related field

Exceptional customer service skills, strong oral and written communication skills, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment


Bachelor’s Degree

3 years of experience

Current CPR/BLS certification (AHA)

Behavioral Health Experience

EMT Experience

Military Medic or Security Experience

IAHSS- Basic Training Certification

CPI or Similar Certification

Incident Reporting Experience
