External Affairs (EA) division promotes advocacy through philanthropy, government affairs, and strategic marketing and external communication. The Sr. Director of Strategic Initiatives oversees the External Affairs strategic initiatives efforts and acts as a senior liaison across Rady Children's Healthcare System and all its affinities for a broad range of programs and complex initiatives. A strategic leader, able to drive strategies across the organization to align Health Systems' priorities with External Affairs advocacy efforts which includes but not limited to:
-Manage all activities in the office of External Affairs and often on behalf of the Chief of External Affairs Officer including coordination, communication, and completion of stakeholder deliverables and commitments.
-Direct the design and implementation of strategic projects that support strategic goals and objectives of Health System and External Affairs.
-Partner with the C-Suite, Business Development, and other stakeholders to direct, implement, and evaluate short and long-range strategic planning as it relates to philanthropy, government affairs and marketing to increase advocacy and support for the Health System and Institutes of Excellence.
-Principal architect of key External Affairs programs and operational strategies including creation of philanthropic funding opportunities aligned with organizational and institute strategic planning.
-Promote fundraising, engagement and community awareness opportunities with the Foundation Board, volunteers, and other key stakeholders, through long-range strategic planning.
Maintains an active awareness of goals, objectives, and strategic priorities. Execute special projects as assigned by the by the Chief External Affairs Officer/Executive Director.

CA Driver's License
Experience with C-Suite high-level stakeholders and influencers
Experience with principal gift and program development
Expert-level project management skills; able to multitask; detail-oriented and team player
Works efficiently under pressure; meets deadlines; demonstrates strategic thinking and good decision-making
Articulate, poised, and possesses strong communications skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
10+ Years of Experience
Knowledge of non-profit applications and organization
Experience in healthcare organization
Experience as a proxy
