The philanthropy writer is responsible for producing compelling cases for support used to elevate the vision and reputation of Rady Children's hospital and its institutes of excellence. The philanthropy writer will work closely with supervisor and internal partners to create individualized funding proposals, stewardship reports, acknowledgment letters, case statements, brochures, newsletters, presentations, and other written communications as assigned. From medical breakthroughs and innovative solutions to emotional appeal, the philanthropy writer is able to communicate scientific/medical information that resonates with non-experts; connecting them to the institution. The philanthropy writer works to create high-impact materials from concept to finished product; researching, drafting, editing, and preparing various communication pieces. Works collaboratively with fundraising professionals, physicians, clinician, and/or other colleagues to create strategic communications pieces to increase donor engagement, donations and stewardship. Independently conduct pertinent research as needed on current institute funding priorities, institute programs, donor biographical background, past donor communications in database, etc. in order to draft individualized proposals, reports and other communications pieces. Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and executes special projects as assigned by the Chief External Affairs Officer/Executive Director and/or supervisor.

Bachelor's Degree
3 Years of Experience
Area of study in a field related to the position or equivalent experience
Works efficiently under pressure; meets deadlines; demonstrates strategic thinking and good decision-making
Able to work nights and weekends as needed
Detail-oriented and collaborative team player

Master's Degree
8 Years of Experience
Experience in healthcare fundraising environment
Background in science or experience in scientific writing
Knowledge of Adobe Creative suite
Knowledge around Blackbaud non-profit applications or similar applications
