JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting and financial reporting functions, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Collects information necessary to prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Monitors general ledger account activity and reconciles general ledger accounts. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in accounting, finance or business with 10 years of accounting experience acceptable in lieu of Bachelor's Degree

Three years of experience

Demonstrated ability to perform variance analysis

Experience and proficiency with accounting systems

Proven accounting skills and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree

Certified Public Accountant

Certified Management Accountant

Experience with People Soft and Hyperion

Not-for-profit experience

Healthcare accounting experience

Public accounting experience

Understanding of philanthropy general accounting

Experience in accounting within the healthcare industry

Experience in areas of cash management, fund accounting, and revenue recognition


Experience in preparing financial reporting for multiple clients, departments, and/or locations


Understanding of inter and intracompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidation of financial reporting


Experience with PeopleSoft


Proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Word and Excel


Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs


Demonstrate attention to details and record keeping


Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet multiple deadlines


Ability to work independently, demonstrate critical thinking, and offer quality ideas for improving processes


Proven record of initiative and follow through


Ability to read and interpret business documents and extract relevant financial components
