Position Overview: The Western Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (WRCAC) is recruiting for a Training Specialist to join its technical assistance and training (TTA) team and provide training and education geared to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) professionals responding to child abuse. The TTA team for MDTs consists of two Training Specialists, and a Training and Communications Coordinator and works closely with other WRCAC staff to implement TTA services.
WRCAC is one of four regional training and technical assistance centers funded by the US Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to support the growth and development of children’s advocacy centers (CACs), children’s justice centers (CJCs), multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) and state chapters in the thirteen western states that comprise the western region. Since October 2016, WRCAC has operated as a project of the Chadwick Center for Children and Families at Rady Children’s Hospital - San Diego. The WRCAC Training Specialist works collaboratively with other WRCAC project staff (based remotely outside of California and in San Diego) and staff from partner agencies funded through the Victims of Child Abuse Act (VOCAA), which at present include Children’s Minnesota (operating the Midwest Regional CAC), Philadelphia Children’s Alliance (operating the Northeast Regional CAC), the National Children’s Advocacy Center (operating the Southern Regional CAC), National Children’s Alliance, National Native Children’s Trauma Center (operating the Native Child Advocacy Resource Center) and Zero Abuse Project.

Location: This position is based remotely through a telework arrangement from a home office. The Training Specialist is expected to travel when funding is available (within and outside the western region) approximately 6-8 times per year. The selected candidate must have a current driver’s license and ideally have easy access to a major airport.
This position funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and contingent upon annual receipt of continued funding by DOJ (currently funded through September 2026)
Position Roles and Responsibilities:
Serve as a content expert and provide TTA on the MDT/CAC approach to child abuse investigations and interventions and NCA accreditation standards
Design and deliver virtual and in-person training for MDT professionals, MDTs/CACs and chapters, with a particular emphasis on strong MDTs, MDT leadership, and building resilient and trauma-informed teams
Work with WRCAC State Chapter Liaison to develop and deliver trainings as requested by chapters and prioritized by WRCAC
Serve as the lead staff member on regional trainings, including work with consultants and WRCAC staff on training development, outreach, logistics, and submissions for DOJ approval
Serve as lead on WRCAC special projects
Respond to technical assistance requests for information and resources submitted by email or through the WRCAC website
Track trainings, TA activities, project efforts, and related performance measures through Salesforce, and compile data for required project reporting
Actively engage in collaborative projects with VOCAA partners and, at times, serve as project lead (current collaborative projects focus on cross-agency communications, support to chapters, MDT leadership, and victim advocacy)
Participate in regional and national workgroups and events as appropriate
Plan and facilitate (state and national) conference workshops and webinars on pertinent issues
Contribute to WRCAC communication strategies, including a website and newsletters
Participate in continuing education to ensure knowledge of current best practices in trauma and evidence-based practices in response to child abuse allegations
Position Requirements:
Recent experience working within a CAC, state chapter, regional CAC or as a member of an MDT agency responding to child abuse
Extensive knowledge of the MDT model for child abuse investigations, CACs, and related NCA accreditation standards
Experience in team development and team facilitation and/or in providing or supervising victim/family advocacy services
Knowledge of and/or experience with instructional design, adult learning principles, participant engagement strategies as they relate to in-person and virtual trainings
Demonstrated experience assessing and responding to technical assistance needs
Self-starter with ability to work independently and as a team member
Dependability in following through on projects within set timeframes
Exceptional public speaking, communication and interpersonal skills (including one-on-one, in small groups and in large-audience presentations) and strong writing skills
Strong organizational skills with high levels of attention to detail
Strong project management skills and ability to balance multiple deliverables and deadlines
Dependability and ability to work autonomously (particularly in a remote setting)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and capacity to learn new applications quickly
Masters degree in related field preferred
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%

JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator, Social Worker - Grants position provides support and takes the lead on a range of complex activities related to the specific grant's goals and scope of work. This position plays a key role in developing collaborative relationships with strategic external individuals and organizations often on the state or national level. They will provide training and technical assistance and advocate on a state and national level on practices informed by the available research related to prevention and/or intervention. They also participate in creating key products and/or written materials related to grant deliverables and works with others on the team to meet reporting and monitoring requirements and grant required deadlines. This individual assists in planning, organizing and facilitating large-scale meetings and conferences with community, state and national stakeholders. It is expected that this individual will have advanced content expertise and will demonstrate the ability to communicate that expertise across multiple platforms, including public-speaking and collaborative partnerships on a local, state and national level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years of experience
Established expertise in area covered by grant
Experience in Social Work, Psychology or other behavioral sciences and best practices for serving traumatized children and families
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree
4 years of experience
Licensed Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Marriage, Family & Child Counselor
Previous experience in administrative social work and grants coordination
The current salary range for this position is $30.96 to $42.57
