Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Trauma Service Director, the Trauma Registrar/Data Analyst is responsible for ongoing review, abstraction, verification, injury and diagnosis coding and recording of trauma patient demographics, clinical information and quality improvement reporting in the San Diego Trauma System registry database residing at RCHSD. In addition, retrieves and assembles into report formats data from the various historical trauma databases at RCHSD for oversight agency reporting, research, quality improvement and injury prevention activities. Organizes, collaborates with RCHSD IS, County and State Emergency Medical Services and the American College of Surgeons National Trauma Data Bank in cleaning, formatting and submitting data within the prescribed timelines and deadlines. Active participant in screening for quality indicators and filters and initiating and facilitating discussion about PI and PI loop closure in weekly Trauma PI meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
5 years of experience
California RN license
Successful completion of the ATS Trauma Registrar course (or equivalent course that satisfies ACS requirements) within 6 months of hire.
Successful completion of the AAAM Injury Scaling course within 6 months of hire.
Clinical experience should be in critical care or emergency nursing.
Demonstrated working knowledge of computers and various software programs including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a trauma registrar in a verified ACS trauma center and working knowledge of trauma registry software and databases.
Clinical experience in a pediatric trauma center in critical care or ED nursing.
The current salary range for this position is $45.75 to $62.90
