Biorepository Associate - Lab - Genomics

Reporting to the RCIGM Molecular Lab Manager, the Biorepository Associate supports research activities at RCHSD,RCIGM, and other research partners, where applicable, through the acquisition, transport, processing and storage of specimens at the RCIGM Biorepository. The Biorepository Associate independently performs a variety of specialized and omplex research and laboratory procedures related to research efforts to collect and catalog tissue and biological specimens for research purposes. Laboratory procedures can include tissue homogenization, DNA, RNA, protein and PBMC purification, biochemical technique analysis and more. The position requires working with a varied, but integrated team of researchers and requires a clear and collaborative communication style. Demonstrated expertise in following good laboratory practice, attention to detail and excellent organization, record keeping, documentation and time management skills are critical. This role will be cross trained to work in the RCIGM clinical wet lab. The position requires experience in handling and processing samples following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and IRB protocols as well as preparing samples for shipment, maintaining equipment and reagent inventory, performing QC and following safety and regulatory guidelines. It entails collecting samples and clinical information related to the samples directly from RCHSD and other sites as applicable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
3 Years of Experience
Demonstrated theoretical and technical knowledge of cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology
Experienced in and able to perform independently, methods including DNA, RNA and PBMC analysis using biochemical techniques
Trained to appropriately handle and be around hazardous chemicals and materials and perform various equipment maintenance
Able and willing to go into clinical and surgical settings to obtain biological specimens and collect sample clinical data according to SOPs and IRB protocols.
Excellent computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite, EPIC, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), RedCap, and/or other databasing applications.
Demonstrated expertise in following good laboratory practice, attention to detail and excellent organization, record keeping, documentation and time management skills

The current salary range for this position is $30.96 to $42.57
