The Hospital Unit Clerk will support the Patient Placement Coordinator in facilitating the safe and efficient placement of patients at Rady Children’s Hospital. This individual will work at a computer in the Transfer Center (House Supervisor) office located on the 3rd floor of the ACP. Responsibilities include answering phone calls related to patient admissions, entering patient information into the Epic Transfer Center module, calling to communicate bed assignment details to referring facilities and families, and ensuring accurate and timely tracking of all patient placements.
Key qualifications include proficiency with technology and Epic, strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to service recovery. This position is currently scheduled Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM (but could be subject to change in future state).
Hospital Unit Clerks regularly perform a supportive role to physicians, nurses and families in the delivery of patient care by assisting the patient care delivery team with emergency calls and clinical communications and performing admission, discharge, and transfer workflows. Responds to emergency codes by executing appropriate protocols and identifying, initiating and utilizing necessary resources. Prepares and maintains patient medical records on the clinical unit including the medical record discharge process. Enters, compiles and reviews reports in a timely and accurate manner. Performs administrative duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma, GED or foreign equivalent
1 year of experience
At least one year previous healthcare experience
Knowledge of healthcare operations and work flow
Knowledge of medical terminology
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree
2 years of experience
More than one year previous healthcare or unit clerk experience
Some college course work in medical terminology
The current salary range for this position is $22.00 to $30.27
