Responsibilities
Join the Rady Children's Emergency Department team with this unique part time opportunity! This position will work 64 hours/pay period (0.8 FTE) and will support night shift.
The Rady Children's Emergency Department is a Lantern-awarded, Level I Trauma Center with 42 beds, including two trauma rooms. We are the only pediatric emergency department within the San Diego region and operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. We are proud to have a big team that values strong collaboration and communication across disciplines. We are a busy department that cares for over 300 patients each day, with a census of 109,000 patients last year, and includes a growing population of behavioral health patients that exceeded 4,700 patients in the previous year.

JOB SUMMARY:
In collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary team memebrs, the role of Registered Nurse is responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care.
Our RNs:
- Resolve patient problems and needs by applying multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Select and coordinate the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration, storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.
- Identify own limitations and seek resources as needed.
- Maintain a collaborative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree in Nursing
1 year of experience
Current California RN License
BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
PALS, issued by AHA
ENPC (within 6 months of hire if no previous Peds ER experience; Only required once)
TNCC and ACLS (within one year of hire)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
3 years of experience
Professional nursing certification
Pediatric nursing experience in a comparable, high-acuity department
Bilingual English/Spanish
The current salary range for this position is $59.53 to $86.06/hr plus shift differentials.
A candidate’s placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
