JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director, Nursing Excellence, the Scientist (Nursing) advances nursing scholarship, clinical inquiry, research, and evidence-based practice within RCHSD. Enhances visibility and dissemination of empirical outcomes internally, locally, regionally, and nationally. Builds a culture of inquiry and capacity within the organization for the conduct of collaborative research, evidence-based practice and innovation to enhance the quality of care. Develops pediatric nursing research goals in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Excellence, Clinical Research Administration, UCSD IRB, clinical staff, physicians/members of other health care disciplines, and patients/families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

California RN License

PhD or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP)

Six (6) years of experience in nursing with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a nursing leadership role

Clinical Information Systems training

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) or equivalent Human Subjects Protection Training

Knowledge and ability to use computer applications in the analysis of data, writing, and presentation of information

Knowledge of research-related ethics to support research and EBP processes

Demonstrated commitment to respecting differences and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three (3) years of experience in the conduct of funded research, knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis and evidence-based practice

Professional experience in grant writing, national presentations and published in a peer review journal

Professional level of knowledge that has been obtained through completion of a doctorate in nursing

The current salary range for this position is $74.51 to $102.45
