This is a casual position with an end date of 06/30/2027. 

Behavioral Health Urgent Care is looking to hire a part-time licensed therapist to work walk-in shifts, Monday through Friday from 2:00pm-6:00pm. 

Behavioral Health Urgent Care Mission: To provide prompt access to crisis intervention support and linkage to community resources. To support the safety and stabilization of youth in the Mid-City region in a way that reduces emergency room visits and hospitalizations.

Overview

Rady Children’s Behavioral Health Urgent Care serves youth ages 5-21 struggling with concerns that pose an imminent risk to their safety, the safety of others, or significantly impair their daily lives.

We see youth experiencing the following concerns:

  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Homicidal thoughts
  • Intentional self-harm (cutting, burning, etc.)
  • Psychotic thinking
  • Severe depression and/or anxiety

Services

  • Safety assessments by a clinical social worker during walk-in hours (1:00 pm – 5:15 pm, Monday – Friday)
    • If a youth is determined to need psychiatric hospitalization, staff will facilitate transportation to an emergency department or psychiatric hospital.
    • Psychiatry and medication services are NOT available during walk-in hours.
  • Short-term return visits and medication services may be available after an initial safety assessment by a clinician during walk-in hours. These appointments are four to six sessions and offered on a case-by-case basis. For these short-term visits, Medi-Cal and some private insurance plans are accepted.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Social Worker II (LCSW) applies principles of Social Work and other behavioral health practices to provide patients and families with assessment, interventions, support, advocacy, and case management as a primary provider and/or as ancillary support to the primary medical provider. In all departments, practices as a member of multi-disciplinary team, in the provision of clinical intervention and support to patients and families. The Social Worker II (LCSW) assesses, develops treatment plans, and intervenes to address the needs identified in the assessment and by the Team. Utilizes knowledge of culture, age, and developmental stages to develop treatment plans and provide interventions, either as an independent practitioner or as a member of a clinical team. Also may provide support and debriefing to RCHSD staff following traumatic events. As assigned, will provide supervision to Interns & unlicensed staff. May also participate in administrative duties, as assigned by the Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Therapy or related field

2 years of experience and/or 2 years of pediatric professional experience

Licensure in the State of California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Psychologist

CA driver's license and proof of auto insurance, if applicable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

4 years of experience

Experience in assessments and treatment of children and adolescents

Experience in trauma, bereavement, chronic illness, catastrophic diagnosis, family violence, child protection, and bio-ethical issues

Experience working in an acute-care hospital setting

Knowledge of evidence-based practices utilized in clinical interventions

The current salary range for this position is $37.63 to $51.75

The range listed above does not represent the full salary range for the position but is the expected hiring range for qualified candidates. Compensation decisions consider a variety of factors including experience, education, licensure, unique skillsets, organizational need, and internal equity.
