Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego has implemented an innovative, new Primary Care – Mental Health Integration Program through the Transforming Mental Health (TMH) initiative. This network of services provides accessible mental health services within the primary care medical home, and at our regional mental health specialty hubs across San Diego and Southern Riverside county. Our program is focused on supporting early identification, health promotion and illness prevention, in collaboration with our primary care pediatric partners. We have a growing team of clinicians focused on providing total child health and mental wellness.
As part of the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) team, the Behavioral Health Integrated Health Therapist "IHT" serves as a valued provider and partner in total child well-being, based in the primary care pediatrician’s office. The IHT will conduct a brief model of mental health services, including diagnostic assessment, triage, psychotherapy, and multidisciplinary team treatment planning. As a generalist provider, the IHT will offer education, connection to resources, counseling, problem solving, brief therapy, and crisis intervention. The IHT will develop integrated care plans utilizing knowledge of mental health, age, developmental stages, and culture. This role works closely with physicians to provide holistic care, monitor patient progress, and achieve treatment goals to improve both mental and physical health.
The Pediatric Clinical Psychologist provides direct patient care in assigned locations. The psychologist develops care plans, implements evidence-based/ informed therapies, and testing following Rady Children's integrated behavioral health model and guidelines. The psychologist makes ongoing treatment recommendations and links children to community mental health resources/therapeutic services. The psychologist works in partnership with their supervisor/manager/director, and leadership to coordinate, plan, evaluate and improve the functions and roles of psychologists working in Rady Children's locations. The psychologist works collaboratively with operational leaders, physicians, and staff to participate in the advancement of behavioral health initiatives that aim to improve the health of pediatric populations. The psychologist participates in ongoing initiatives of the department to support the vision and innovation of integrated Psychology services at Rady Children's.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PHD or PSYD in clinical psychology or related field of psychology with specialization in pediatrics
1 year clinical experience
California State license
Successfully completes the required credentialing process for the department/area of practice
BLS for Health Providers (AHA) (Minimum)
Ability and experience working independently, using critical thinking skills and processes to arrive at objective, strategic, results-oriented decisions within the context of patient care and department, division, and organizational priorities
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree from APA accredited program
3 years clinical experience
Bilingual English/Spanish
The expected hiring range for this position is $52.95 to $72.81
