This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.

Children’s Specialists of San Diego (CSSD) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, advanced practice providers, and student body.  We are seeking both nurse practitioners and physician assistants to join the Division of Emergency Medicine in the Emergency Department located at Rady Children's Hospital Main Campus.      

Rady Children's Hospital San Diego (RCHSD), a 377-bed level 1 Trauma Center, is the major regional primary and tertiary pediatric hospital and is the clinical home of UCSD Department of Pediatrics. The Emergency Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research. 

Please note that this position may be needed to work at our ED site located at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta for coverage of sick call-ins and patient volume surges.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner - ED functions independently in a staff position, implementing the role of expert practitioner, and provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in the Emergency Medicine clinical setting. This position performs under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with hospital policies. The Nurse Practitioner - ED also functions as a clinical leader, educator, researcher, and consultant.  The NP role supports the philosophies of the department of nursing as well as the medical staff.

Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing or DNP
  • Current California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licensures
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an NP in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
  • Furnishing number, State of California: within one year of employment
  • Medicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier): must obtain within six months of employment
  • Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National: within one year of employment
  • Successfully complete the credentialing process through our Medical Staff Services Department
  • Bilingual Skills desired

The expected hiring range for this position is $70.96 to $97.57 per hour.
