JOB SUMMARY:
Blood Bank Coordinator Provides general operational oversight of area of responsibility under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services. Provides advanced practical and theoretical skills as required to perform, evaluate, and determine the reliability of test results and procedures. Under the direction of the Director, is responsible for compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements including but not limited to AABB, FDA, CA-DPH, JCAHO, CAP and OSHA. Serves as a role model and mentor for teamwork and positive colleague interaction. The blood bank coordinator shall provide training and education for laboratory employees, students, residents, fellows and other employees. Technical competence and good judgement are required as errors could result in serious consequences to patients. Meets budget expectations for assigned cost center. Documents any and all variances and non-conformances and reports those non-conformances meeting requirements directly to the FDA (BPD reporting). Develops annual capital and operating budget for section supervised. Identifies opportunities for and implements operational efficiencies to save cost for the organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
Area of Study in a Field Related to the Position
5 Years of Experience
Clinical Lab Scientist
Experience in Blood Banking of at least 4 years and 2 years in supervisory work.
Excellent problem-solving skills, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access Database
Self-Motivated, Team focused.
Area of study in Biology, Chemistry, other Science
Must have an ASPC certification; A specialist in Blood Banking (ASPC SBB) is preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree
Knowledge and experience with Mediware HCLL Transfusion System, EPIC, EPIC Billing
Knowledgeable in business practices and marketing
The expected hiring range for this position is $50.43 to $69.35
