Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is a nonprofit, 511-bed pediatric care facility nationally recognized for its commitment to excellence in care, research, and teaching.  In affiliation with the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, we are the region’s teaching hospital for the next generation of pediatric physicians.  We are also a major pediatric clinical research center, working in collaboration with world-renowned institutions. In 2023, Rady Children’s was named by U.S. News & World Report to its 2023-2024 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll, a distinction awarded to only 10 children’s hospitals nationwide.

Very few heart centers around the world offer dedicated pediatric intensive care services and our program is unmatched in the region which stretches across the Pacific Rim to the U.S. southwest. Our 30-bed unit, situated in space solely devoted to cardiac care, provides all levels of inpatient care for congenital or acquired heart disease and can flex to 37 beds when needed. Patients remain in the CTICU from admission to discharge, providing continuity and stream-lined care. Our work stations are within steps of the patient rooms offering reassurance and comfort to both patients and families of being in visual contact with members of the healthcare team. Advanced care modalities include extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and a heart transplantation program that is thriving and demonstrates excellent outcomes.

We are seeking a Director, Cardiothoracic ICU to lead a team of dedicated and highly skilled healthcare professionals that’s seek to make a difference in the lives of our patients and families.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Nursing Director collaborates with Sr. leadership and subordinate staff to plan, implement, and evaluate processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units/services. Ensures that regulatory requirements/standards are communicated, implemented, and monitored. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to plan, implement, and evaluate activities related to department and organizational objectives. Models customer service excellence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
5 Years of Experience
California RN License
At least five (5) years in administrative or supervisory experience
Broad knowledge of the disciplines represented in the department and of the laws and regulations pertaining to services provided by the department
Bachelor's Degree with current enrollment in a Master's Degree program will be accepted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree
6 Years of Experience

The expected hiring range for this position is $86.06 to $107.58
