Innovation Engineer - 3D Innovation Center
San Diego, CaliforniaRady Children’s Health is seeking an Innovation Engineer to join our dynamic 3D Innovations Lab in San Diego. This role is ideal for someone with a clinical mindset such as those with experience in roles like Radiologic Technologist who understand cross sectional images (CT and MR). As an Innovation Engineer, you’ll collaborate with team members to perform 3D reconstructions, post-process medical images, support 3D printing, and other innovation tasks for the organization. You’ll work directly with emerging technologies to enable improved patient outcomes.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of high-quality engineering and innovations tasks and initiatives for both clinical
support and investigational purposes.
The Innovation Engineer will:
-Perform cross-sectional image post-processing inclusive of anatomy/physiology identification,medical image segmentation, 3D reconstruction, CAD modeling for patient-specific anatomical models;
-Develop and analyze computational information for operative support and academic research;
-Develop bespoke solutions (hardware and/or software) to support operational efficiency and excellence;
-Review technological developments and seek opportunities for deployments with appropriate personnel;
-Work in interdisciplinary teams to problem-solve and assist in quality improvement initiatives;
-Develop appropriate healthcare 3D printing applications inclusive of anatomical models, cutting guides, and other 3D printed bespoke solutions;
-Follow tracking maintenance/quality and established process/workflow for 3D printing/device design;
-Ensure 3D printing methods, materials, and capabilities match intended application;
-Follow appropriate maintenance of 3D Printers, inventory management, waste management;
-Develop, test, and support bespoke software development for operative and operational support;
-Develop/implement and support advanced visualization and extended reality technologies (e.g., VR);
-Development educational/training tools with appropriate 3D and fabrication technology for patients, families, staff or physicians.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
3 Years of Experience
Intermediate knowledge in cross-sectional anatomy and physiology, medical imaging post-processing, and medical imaging safety
Fundamental knowledge in sterile technique
Intermediate knowledge in 3D modeling (i.e., surface mesh) and CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks)
Intermediate knowledge in 3D printing (in particular, binder jetting, material extrusion, material jetting, powder bed fusion, and vat photopolymerization)
Intermediate knowledge of Quality System Regulation (e.g., 21CFR820, ISO 13485)
Advanced design thinking principles
Advanced engineering design principles including project management (e.g., Agile)
Ability to communicate scientific or engineering concepts to non-engineers
Fundamental programming knowledge (in particular, C#, Matlab, Java, python)
Intermediate human subject research process (e.g., Institutional Review Board, HIPAA), and methodologies (e.g., statistics)
Intermediate knowledge of extended reality (e.g., AR/VR displays) operations
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree
5 Years of Experience
Advanced knowledge in cross-sectional anatomy and physiology, medical imaging post-processing, and medical imaging safety
Intermediate knowledge in sterile technique
Advanced knowledge of designing cutting guides and other 3D prints for use in the surgical setting
Advanced knowledge in 3D modeling (i.e., surface mesh) and CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks)
Advanced knowledge in 3D printing (in particular, binder jetting, material extrusion, material jetting, powder bed fusion, and vat photopolymerization)
Advanced knowledge of Quality System Regulation (e.g., 21CFR820, ISO 13485)
Advanced programming knowledge (in particular, C#, Matlab, Java, python) and database schema (e. g., SQL)
Intermediate knowledge of extended reality (e.g., AR/VR displays) operations and software development
The current salary range for this position is $37.63 to $51.75
