Rady Children’s Hospital is currently hiring for Registered Nurses in PICU and CTICU, with a generous sign on bonus!

This is an opportunity for RNs to transition from the adult critical care setting to Pediatric ICU (PICU) or Pediatric Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU).  Minimum of 2 years Adult ICU experience strongly preferred.

NOTE:
Positions in the PICU are full-time, night shift.
Positions in CTICU are full-time, rotating shifts for one year then will move to straight nights.

Pediatrics ICU (PICU)
Who we are:

  • Our 24 bed PICU receives the highest acuity patients from San Diego, Southern Riverside and Imperial counties.
  • Our nurses collaborate with a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, social work, child life, and pharmacists to provide excellent care to our patients.
  • Diagnoses we care for include but are not limited to: complex medical conditions (respiratory failure, sepsis, and multisystem organ dysfunction), pre and post-operative conditions, multiple trauma, and children needing acute management of chronic illnesses.
  • Our PICU has once again received the Gold Level designation of the Beacon Award for Excellence. The three-year award acknowledges “caregivers in stellar units whose consistent and systematic approach to evidence-based care optimizes patient outcomes.”

Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)
Who we are:

  • CVICU/ACU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care/Acute Cardiac Unit). Very few heart centers around the world offer dedicated pediatric intensive care services and our program is unmatched in the region which stretches across the Pacific Rim to the U.S. southwest.
  • Our 30-bed unit, situated in space solely devoted to cardiac care, provides all levels of inpatient care for congenital or acquired heart disease and can flex to 37 beds when needed.
  • Patients remain in the CVICU/ACU from admission to discharge, providing continuity and stream-lined care. Our work stations are within steps of the patient rooms offering reassurance and comfort to both patients and families of being in visual contact with members of the healthcare team. Advanced care modalities include extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and a heart transplantation program that is thriving and demonstrates excellent outcomes.
  • We offer an extensive training program for nurses with adult critical care experience or pediatric medical/surgical experience wishing to transition into the CTICU. For the first year, you will be working a rotating schedule consisting of 2 months on the day shift, followed by 2 months on the night shift. After your first year, you will transition to fulltime night shifts.
