Responsibilities
The peritoneal dialysis RN coordinates care for outpatients and provides intermittent support for newly identified admitted patients or those requiring inpatient care due to illness. Inpatient services are offered across NICU, PICU, CTICU, BMT and Med/Surg units, ensuring comprehensive care for patients with complex needs. The PD Care Coordinator is responsible for the many facets of PD care coordination, fostering a collaborative environment to deliver exceptional care for both inpatient and outpatient dialysis patients.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in peritoneal dialysis preferred. Pediatric experience preferred but not necessary. Expert clinical knowledge of peritoneal dialysis. Good organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both verbally and in writing.
Education/Licensure/Certification: California RN licensure, Current CPR and PALS Card.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Dialysis RN performs at an advanced level in dialysis and has a comprehensive understanding of kidney disease, characterized by viewing situations as a whole, teaching/mentoring of peers, continual acquisition of nursing knowledge, and professional contributions to teams/units. The Dialysis RN demonstrates critical thinking and dialysis procedure including machine set-up, monitoring of patients in both a chronic and acute setting, administration of ordered medications, and complication management for the dialysis patient. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care. Selects and administers the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree or Nursing Diploma
Two years of experience
Current CA Registered Nurse License
PALS
BLS/CPR certification (Issued by American Heart Association)
CA Driver's License and auto insurance (minimum for Peritoneal)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in Critical Care or Dialysis
Two years of pediatric experience
Master's Degree in Nursing
The current salary range for this position is $65.93 to $97.83
A candidate’s placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
