Release of Information Specialist - Health Information

Acts as custodian of records for release of medical records, according to state and federal regulations, as well as hospital department policies and procedures. Responds to and processes all types of releases including Subpoenas and Court Orders within the legal time allotted and/or by hospital policy. May stand up in court on behalf of Rady Children's Hospital as the Custodian of Records. Interacts with the customer (parent/patient/physician/risk/other healthcare facility/coworker/ hospital staff, etc.) to achieve positive outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
H.S. Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
2 years of experience
Registered Health Info Tech within one year of hire
Knowledge of California laws pertaining to ROI, HIPAA & JCAHO guidelines
Strong computer skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree
Bilingual - English/Spanish
2 years in a medical office with Release of Information (ROI) background
The current salary range for this position is $24.26 to $33.36
