JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Internal Consultant plays a pivotal role in advancing Rady Children's Health's strategic priorities across the enterprise, particularly in the context of post-merger integration and organizational transformation. This position supports the full lifecycle of strategy—from ideation and planning to activation and execution—ensuring alignment with organizational goals and readiness for high-impact decision-making.
Serving as a senior internal advisor, this consultant partners with leadership to translate complex strategies into actionable initiatives, which may include managing strategic portfolios, leading individual projects, conducting special studies, or providing targeted support for strategy execution. The role demands a high level of emotional intelligence and adaptability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups, maintaining consistency in language, tone, and context across clinical, operational, and executive audiences.
The caliber of materials produced by this role—whether presentations, analyses, or recommendations—are expected to meet board-level standards and contribute meaningfully to enterprise-wide decision-making. This position requires flexibility in scope, allowing the consultant to pivot between strategic leadership, operational support, and advisory functions as organizational needs evolve.
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Healthcare, or related field
Project management and change management training
Minimum 5 years of experience in a strategic planning role in a healthcare, consulting, or similar
Environment
Experience with portfolio management
Experience with development and use of frameworks such as SWOT, PESTLE, Balanced Scorecard, and OKRs
Proven ability to influence C-suite and board-level decisions
Completed project management and change management training either through formal certification or hands-on experience through workshops or internal programs
Demonstrated commitment to respecting differences and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent analytical skills
Must have strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills
Must be proficient in project management software and Microsoft products: Smartsheet, Microsoft
Project, Excel, Word and Power Point
Proven organizational skills with the ability to plan time effectively, balance multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
Good judgment, trustworthiness and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information
Highly Preferred: Experience leading client engagements, developing strategic roadmaps, and
managing change initiatives
Highly Preferred: Healthcare strategy/transformation experience in areas such as service line
planning, care model redesign, or population health initiatives
Highly Preferred: Board-facing relations and experience in preparing written communications and presenting to executive leadership and governance bodies
Highly Preferred: Proven expertise in being a thought partner and coaching senior leaders, helping them navigate complex organizational challenges and build strategic capability
Highly Preferred: Global or multi-site experience managing initiatives across geographies or enterprise campuses
Experience in mergers and acquisitions
Organizational development, leadership development, team effectiveness, and enterprise change initiatives especially in a post-merger environment
Business Operations roles with focus in operational excellence or enterprise PMO; experience managing cross-functional initiatives and driving measurable improvements
Innovation and Transformation roles in innovation hubs, transformation offices, or digital health
strategy; experience launching pilots, scaling innovations, and navigating ambiguity
Strategy roles with experience bridging technical and business teams providing expertise in enterprise architecture or program management for enterprise system management and data integration
Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field
Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen experience; Project Management Professional (PMP); Change management certification (i.e., AIM, Prosci)
The current salary range for this position is $55..60 to $76.45
Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable. The range listed above does not represent the full salary range for the position but is the expected hiring range for qualified candidates. Compensation decisions consider a variety of factors including experience, education, licensure, unique skillsets, organizational need, and internal equity.
