JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting and financial reporting functions, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Collects information necessary to prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Monitors general ledger account activity and reconciles general ledger accounts. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in accounting, finance or business with 10 years of accounting experience acceptable in lieu of Bachelor's Degree

Three years of experience

Demonstrated ability to perform variance analysis

Experience and proficiency with accounting systems

Proven accounting skills and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Knowledge of Managed Care concepts: Healthcare delivery system focused on controlling costs and improving the quality of care provided to patients, Provider Networks (doctors, hospital, specialists), Capitation payment models 

Knowledge of Prop 56: Background (why it exists), Information contained on explanation of benefits (EOB), Good written communication, will to communicate with healthplans and providers

Computer literacy using Microsoft Office especially Excel up to pivot table creation and manipulation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree

Certified Public Accountant

Certified Management Accountant

Experience with PeopleSoft and Hyperion

Not-for-profit experience

Healthcare accounting experience

Knowledge of Managed Care concepts:

3. Capitation payment models

The current salary range for this position is $32.51 to $44.70
