Supervisor, Blood Bank - Lab - Administration

Under the general direction of the Director of Laboratory Services, the Blood Bank Supervisor provides leadership to the section staff & oversight for the operations. Serves as a facilitator, organizational liaison, technical advisor & mentor for the staff. Problem solves & resolves issues related to staffing & operations. Manages the financial requirements for designated laboratory programs. As part of the Laboratory Leadership Team, participates in departmental improvement & strategic planning. Provides advanced practical and theoretical skills as required to perform, evaluate, and determine the reliability of test results and procedures. Responsible for compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements including but not limited to AABB, FDA, CADPH, JCAHO, CAP and OSHA. Serves as a role model and mentor for teamwork and positive colleague interaction. Provides training and education for laboratory employees, students, residents, fellows and other employees. Makes use of high level of blood bank technical competence and good
judgement to mitigate serious consequences to patients. Documents variances and nonconformances and reports non-conformances meeting requirements directly to the FDA (BPD
reporting).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
5 Years of Experience
CA Clin Lab Scientist
ASCP certification; a specialist in Blood Banking (ASCP SBB) is required
Experience working in clinical laboratory bench including minimum 3 years' experience as lead technologist or supervisor in blood bank
Excellent people management skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access Database
Self-motivated, team focused
Knowledge and experience with Wellsky, EPIC, EPIC Billing (highly preferred)
Progressive knowledge of blood bank and transfusion services
Knowledgeable in business practices and marketing
Demonstrated commitment to respecting differences and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
The current salary range for this position is $58.38 to $80.27
