This leadership role oversees a high-performing team delivering safe, timely, and high-quality transfusion services. Responsibilities include managing daily operations, resolving staffing challenges, and supporting financial oversight for key programs.
The role serves as a mentor, technical resource, and strategic contributor—ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (AABB, FDA, CAP, etc.), supporting education and training, and driving continuous improvement. Advanced blood bank expertise and sound judgment are essential to maintaining patient safety and operational excellence.
SKILL & COMPETENCIES
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and technical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of transfusion services, lab operations, and regulatory compliance
- Skilled in mentoring, training, and fostering teamwork
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
5 years of experience
CA Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) License
ASCP certification; a specialist in Blood Banking (ASCP SBB) is required
Experience working in clinical laboratory bench including minimum 3 years' experience as lead technologist or supervisor in blood bank
Excellent people management skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access Database
Self-motivated, team focused
Knowledge and experience with Wellsky, EPIC, EPIC Billing (highly preferred)
Progressive knowledge of blood bank and transfusion services
Knowledgeable in business practices and marketing
Demonstrated commitment to respecting differences and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with WellSky, EPIC, and EPIC Billing
The current salary range for this position is $58.38 to $80.27/hour.
