Clinical Lab Scientist II (CLS) - Lab - Point-of-Care Testing

Responsible for a variety of high-complexity, clinical laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Blood Bank. Perform QC/QA procedures, preventive maintenance, and test validation. Review and report test results in accordance with laboratory standards. Maintain working knowledge of hospital and laboratory policies and procedures.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Possess excellent communication skills and can directly communicate and work with Physicians, RN’s, RTs and Nursing Educators from different areas and locations within Rady Children’s Hospital and Outpatient Clinics.
- Must have excellent computer skills.
- Is detail-oriented and has great organizational skills.
- Is highly motivated and able to work independently and with the team
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Support the POCT Technical Specialist in managing the POCT data management systems in multiple POCT software applications.
- Manage Operator list – initial entry and updating of certifications and competencies.
- Input quality control data and monitor lot numbers and QC requirements.
- Run and export reports to create spreadsheets and document to monitor and maintain POCT operator competencies.
- Upon completion of training, the candidate must be able to independently operate, maintain and troubleshoot POCT analyzers and testing kits.
- Be familiar with College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission (TJC) regulatory requirements. Instrumental in maintaining CAP and TJC survey readiness. Assist in the organization of CAP inspection and TJC survey records.
- Assist in the management of PPMP testing.
- Run QC of new lots of reagents, instrument correlation, calibration verification and data collection.
- Support the POCT Technical Specialist and the Laboratory in maintaining competency and compliance.
- Assist in the management of POCT supply inventory, including distribution of reagents and supplies to all POCT areas.
- Perform other POCT duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
1 year of experience
CA Clinical Lab Scientist Licensure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
4 years of experience

The expected hiring range for this position is 50.43 to $69.35
