JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Executive Director of Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM), the Director of Research Operations manages the RCIGM science and research operations to achieve strategic, operational, and organizational goals in partnership with research and clinical leaders at RCIGM and Rady Children's. The Director of Research Operations plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision of the Institute's scientific and research goals. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence and managing all research activities within the Institute. The Director oversees all facets of research operations, including study management, regulatory compliance, research support personnel, and financial oversight. This role will ensure that the Institute's research infrastructure, processes, and resources align with the strategic goals of advancing pediatric genomic research in a financially sustainable way. The Director works closely with researchers, clinicians, and administrative staff to foster a collaborative environment, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and study requirements. Finally, this leader serves as the primary liaison between the Institute and internal and external stakeholders, including Rady Children's. This position requires a dynamic leader who can navigate the complexities of genomic research within a healthcare setting, optimize workflows, and ensure the Institute's research projects align with its mission. The Director will manage multidisciplinary teams, cultivate external partnerships with

academic and industry leaders, and secure funding to support both current and future research endeavors. Ultimately, the Director will be responsible for creating a robust and scalable operational framework that allows the Institute to maintain its position at the forefront of pediatric genomic research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree

5 Years of Experience

Five (5) years directly supervising research personnel in an academic or research environment

Knowledge of federal grants/research, programs/grants administration policies and practices and research operations

Excellent interpersonal, written, organizational, project management, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills

Understanding of research/privacy/HIPAA compliance and data governance

Able to interact and effectively communicate with a multi-layered interdisciplinary team as well as outside contacts at all levels

Proven track record of managing complex research programs with multiple projects and teams, including effective financial acumen and budget management, preferably in a healthcare or biomedical research setting

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams

Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree

The expected hiring range for this position is $82.14 to $112.91
